Our Care Home book supply service is a real life-saver for care homes and day centres. Finding activities that might engage the residents is no easy task, especially with a diverse group of residents of different ages, backgrounds and abilities; with experiences in a range of hobbies that they can’t do anymore from lack of space, lack of equipment or lack of mobility.
As an independent and traditional Bookshop located in Hathern, Leicestershire, we provide a fantastic bookshelf service to Care Homes and Day Centres with selections of ‘As New’ books for your bookshelves. Selections can be anything from 30 Novels; to a complete Library of 1,000 books in all subjects.
We Find Books on Any Subject
We specialise in subjects that can interest and stimulate your residents, reliving happy memories and providing a rich choice of manageable indoor activities and plenty of opportunity for lively conversations. You can order books in groups of ten, on subjects such as: Hobbies, Crafting, Knitting, Crochet, Card Making, History, Film-TV-Theatre, Poetry, Literature Classics, Gardening, Sport, War Stories, Transport, Travel, Wildlife and Nature, Westerns, Romance, Health and Wellbeing, Art, Biographies and popular Novels.
We also supply brand new Puzzle books (Word search, Crossword, Arrow-word, Sudoku), adult relaxing colouring books and paperback novels for £1 each, that will help to stimulate memory, speech and brain function. For orders of over 100 books, we also provide a shelving service, where we deliver in person and then unpack the new books onto your shelves, in their subject categories. – Your staff are busy enough with their daily tasks.
As an ex Head of Social Care for a large Unitary Authority, and a previous Training Assessor for Care Workers in residential and Nursing settings; I fully understand the difficulties faced by the Activity Coordinators every day, in finding suitable activities and engaging a wide variety of residents with different interests and personalities.
Residents who have enjoyed many years of gardening, or nature walking, may get huge enjoyment from looking through books of gardens in country houses, and books about the Lake District, or the City where they grew up. This is so important to their happiness, self-esteem and wellbeing; so please tell us about their special places or hobbies and interests, and we will find suitable books on these subjects for them.
