“The Alchemy of Etching” is our Christmas Art Exhibition in the Tearoom featuring Sally Myerson, Professional Artist

From Tuesday the 3rd December until Thursday 16th January 2020, every hanging space in the bookshop and tea room, will feature original works of art by this delightful artist, and all will be for sale. Many of the images are available as hand-tinted Christmas cards, some will be framed and some will be available in a plastic sleeve, ready for you to add your choice of frame, or to give as a Christmas gift.

Original works on the theme of ‘A Dickensian Christmas’ featuring Birds, Snowmen, and winter scenes that will make unusual and unique gifts as well as tasteful decorations for the festive season in the home and workplace.

Sally Myerson explains:

“It was in my foundation year that I was first introduced to etching.  Despite opting for graphic design for print, I would still find myself sloping off to the etching department trying to pretend that the toothpaste advert upon which I was working would be better illustrated by taking acid to a metal plate!

I have continued to slope off to the etching department ever since.  I now have my very own conveniently in my garden and in true Aardvark fashion I quietly enjoy the alchemy of the etching process as my little illustrations gradually come to life!  Initial inspiration may come from old greeting cards, 1930’s children’s books,  nineteenth century satirical cartoons or from nature itself – or, perhaps, even from my own imagination.”
