Not the same, but bigger and better!
During lockdown we have been busy redesigning the interior of the shop, launching our fabulous ‘WALL of FICTION’ with over 2,000 fiction paperbacks available at 3 for £5. We also have the biggest selection of LOCAL HISTORY books and guidebooks in any one place for the villages, churches, and houses in Leicestershire, Derbyshire, and Nottinghamshire.
The Sherlock Holmes Room
The previous Tearoom cannot reopen yet, so this is now the SHERLOCK HOLMES ROOM – as depicted on our wrought iron weather vane outside – featuring a wall of Biographies, and shelves crammed with Poetry, Plays, Literary Criticism, Vintage Penguins and Puffins, Transport, Wars, True Crime, Maps and UK wide Guide Books. In true 1930s style you can rest a while on the blue velvet chaise longue under the crystal chandelier.
Take Away Tea, Coffee & Cake
As you depart with your books, you can take with you a coffee, tea, and cake to enjoy at home or try one of Poirot’s famous ‘TISANE’ herbal teas – we have 70 to choose from. Our two signature teas are the Hathern Mist – Earl Grey with caramel syrup, and the Orient Express – a distinguished mix of Assam and Darjeeling. Also available is our usual selection of homemade Jams and chutneys, greetings cards, note cards, keyrings and jewellery for gifts and treats. Takeaway Afternoon Teas can still be booked in advance for collection on any day.
Where to Park
We have a small customer car park behind the shop, or park anywhere in the side road which has no restrictions. Alternatively, you can park opposite in the Anchor Inn car park, where we have a permission arrangement with the Publican. A disabled ramp is positioned at the back of the shop to enter at street level without using the steps.
We look forward to welcoming back all our customers in compliance with all social distancing regulations for 2 people in the shop at any time.
