Paperback , NEW copy,  The Erewash Valley changed enormously after the arrival in 1847 of the railways, which were to affect every aspect of local life. Until 1947 there were seven railway stations in or near Ilkeston: by 1969 there were none, as the wasteful duplication of routes was trimmed and heavy industry vanished .

This is the story of why the railways came, how they affected local folk, and how they disappeared so quickly and completely. Ironically, in 2015 Ilkeston is set to get a brand new station. The story is told in local recollections and cuttings, with over 100 photos and other illustrations, many not seen before. The foreword is by railway enthusiast Pete Waterman.

Good afternoon, this may be a little random, but I have had an experience due to your shop!
I popped in a couple of weeks ago and picked-up a book for my grandma related to WW1 and Castle Donington. Through her reading of the book, we discovered that it had some relatives in it. We found out more information about our family history and how they passed in the war. I used this information to undertake some online/Facebook research and I am now in contact with some Austrian relatives.
